What to do in Istanbul

Visit Istanbul during your cruise vacation

There is only one city in the world that is situated on two continents and that's Istanbul. The Bosphorus flows through the city and separates the European and Asian part. Both continents are interconnected with bridges of which the Bosphorus Bridge is the most famous. It's even possible to walk from one continent to another.

Because of its strategic location Istanbul played an incredibly important role in world history. We know the city even as Byzantium among the Greeks and Constantinople during the Byzantine era.

Nowadays Istanbul is the largest city of Turkey. In the former district of Constantinople, now Sultanahmet, you will find the magnificent palaces and mosques. Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque are the most famous highlights.

On the Princes' Islands, you can relax on one of the beaches or under the beautiful pine trees. It was once the retreat of the Byzantine princes. From the top of Camlica Hill, the highest point in Istanbul, located on the Asian continent, you have a breathtaking view over the city and the Bosphorus.

The city is bustling with life and never seems to sleep. The colors, scents and flavors along the Bazaars are a feast for the senses. Classic and modern blend easily.
