What to do in Ephesus
Visit Ephesus during your cruise vacation
In the 11th century BC there were already settlements in Ephesus. In ancient times it was a major commercial port and during the Roman Empire the city flourished. Two of the Bible books refer to this city: The Letter of Paul to the Ephesians and Acts of the Apostles. After the silting of the port, Ephesus came to lie inland and the city was abandoned.
Now it's one of the largest excavations of Greek antiquity and the most important archaeological site in Turkey. Many buildings are well preserved and you can get a good picture of urban life in the time of the Roman Empire.
A visit to Ephesus is a must for the history lover.
