What to do in Carthage
Visit Carthage during your cruise vacation
Carthage was once the capital of the Carthaginian Empire. In the 3rd century BC it was the biggest rival of the Roman Empire. The inhabitants of Carthage were called Punics by the Romans. During the Third Punic War, the city was largely destroyed.
Afterwards it was rebuilt by the Romans and today you can visit the archaeological site with the remains of this former capital.
There are both relics from the Punic and Roman times. Since 1979, the archaeological site is part of UNESCO World Heritage.
A visit to Carthage is not only a must for the true history lover. The city played such an important cultural, artistic an political role during history that you actually can't visit Tunis without seeing Carthage.
