The Holy Face of Alicante
The monastery is home to a cloth used to wipe Christ’s face. The relic was obtained by Pope Nicholas V in 1453. It is believed that the relic came to Alicante when there was a severe drought. As the story goes, a tear came from Christ’s cheek and then it started to rain. The veil can now be found in a chapel at Monasterio de la Santa Faz 5 km outside Alicante.
