Ik ben tevreden hoe het gegaan is, De bus stond te wachten met een bordje met onze namen.
Ook was het weer op tijd om ons op te halen.
Very satisfied, good price, good organization.
On July 24, 2018, our cruise ship MSC Seaview docked at Messina, Sicily. We booked a walking tour with ShoreBee. Our guide, Chiara, and her assistants met us right off the ship.
She was extremely informative, knowledgeable, and understood our walking needs. We were able to see the important sites in central Messina at a comfortable pace. She pointed out the most important sights, including the cathedral's astronomic clock, Palazzo Zanca (the municipal building), the Land Registry Office, the Old Customs House, and the Chamber of Commerce. She narrated the history of Messina and the earthquakes and the buildings that were damaged and have been reconstructed.
We got to the Piazza del Duomo slightly before noon to watch the astronomical clock’s performance. The figures begin moving showing scenes from the history of Messina. This continues for about 15 minutes with animated figures popping out of the windows.
At one end of the Duomo, stands the Cathedral with the Orion Fountain in front of it. The church was reconstructed true to the original.
Another point of interest is the Mountain of Mercy where one can catch a bird’s eye view of the Messina harbour, guarded by a golden Madonna. Here also stands the Church of Saint Francis of Assisi, one of the oldest churches in Messina, dating back to 1254.
Our highlights include watching graduates celebrating in front of the university, stopping to sample some locally grown foods and a special treat of granitas and cannoli.
I do recommend this tour and thankyou very much to a very professional guide.
Highlight of our trip!
Fabulous excursion! Email contact was very easy. Our tour guide Mariarita was waiting for us at the designated place & time. She led us to a very nice air conditioned van & had water & a “surprise” (cookies) for us. It was the first time in Sicily for our family of 8 ranging in age from 23-60. Mariarita spoke perfect English & was both informative & entertaining. We loved both Castelmola & Taormina but Cantine Don Saro was the highlight of our day. It was like Sunday dinner with a big Italian family! Thank you Mariarita & Don Saro for a very memorable day!
