Officially there are over 5 docking area's for cruise ships in Lisbon: Santa Apolonia, Santa Apolonia Jusante, Jardim do Tabaco, Alcântara and da Rocha. The first three are all within the same area which we will further refer to as Santa Apolonia. The latter two are located close to the famous bridge: Ponte 25 de Abril.
Where exactly you will dock is hard to predict and depends on the size of your ship and the cruise traffic of the day. Ask your cruise company in advance where you will dock. That will make things much easier for you to get into town. Via this link you can already find a forecast.
All docking options are ok and have quite fast and easy connections into Lisbon city center. Docking at Santa Apolonia is the best as you are the closest to the city center. The docking area at da Rocha or Alcântara is about 5 kilometers away from Lissabon city center, but closer to the Belem area, one of the main sights in Lisbon.

Getting around in Lisbon
To reach the city center of Lisbon from the cruise port is easy but the mode of transport highly depends on where exactly you will dock. Sometimes you can easily go on foot. Good alternatives are the metro or train. Once in the center you will find most sights within walking distance from each other. Only the Belem district is far away from the city center.

A thorough exploration of Lisbon will take a whole day and even then you will have to focus on the most important sigts. Some cruise passengers opt for an excursion outside Lisbon to places like Sintra or Fatima.
