Visit Padua during your cruise vacation
Padua is the capital of the province with the same name. It has a very long history. The origin of the city dates back to mythical times. During the first centuries of our era, Padova was destroyed and conquered many times by the Visigoths, Huns and Lombards.
In the 12th century, it became a free city, but it was hit by disaster. In 1174, the entire town was destroyed by fire, but was completely rebuilt afterwards.
The university, built in the 13th century, can be considered as the cradle of humanism. Even today, the city is still a lively university town with some interesting landmarks.
