Public bus from Sorrento to the Amalfi Coast

Sorrento is part of the Amalfi coast, but further to the east in Positano and Amalfi the coastline is more dramatic. The Amalfi Coast is listed among the most beautiful coast lines on earth. The best option to visit the Amalfi coast from Sorrento is by bus from the SITA network. They run regularly between Sorrento and important places such as Positano, Amalfi and Ravello. A ticket costs € 2.80 per person (one way).

TIP: During summer, the road can be very busy causing delays. Don't make your time shedule too tight.

How do I get to the SITA bus station from the cruise port in Sorrento?

The SITA bus stop is located opposite the train station. From the port of Marina Piccola, you have 3 options to get there:

  1. a steep walk of 2 km
  2. a taxi (€ 10, 4 persons, one way)
  3. orange public bus (€ 1.50 per person, one way)

TIP: If you plan to use the public transport more often consider a day ticket. Unicocampania offers several possibilities. With a combined day ticket you can make unlimited use of the various bus, metro and train companies (including Circumvesuviana) in the region around Naples. A day pass including Naples, Pompei and all important places along the Amalfi coast costs € 12 per person. At weekends only € 6.30 per person.

A more funny way to explore the Amalfi Coast is by scooter. First, go to Sorrento by Circumvesuviana train. Walk to Corso Italia and rent a scooter for a day. You pay between 35 and 45 per scooter and with a full fuel tank of a couple of euros you can explore the entire coast. Just be aware of the busy and sometimes chaotic traffic.
