Train from Livorno to Pisa

You can easily visit Pisa by train from Livorno. The train ride from Livorno Centrale to Pisa Centrale only takes 15-20 minutes and costs € 2.60 per person (one way). There run 1-2 trains per hour (up to 4 on peak times). You can check the train timetable in advance.

How do I get to the train station from the cruise port in Livorno?

Livorno Centrale train station is too far from the harbor to get there on foot. You can take a taxi for approximately € 20 per taxi (4 persons one way) or you opt for the combination shuttle bus and public transport. The latter is the most popular option and it's very simple. Here are the steps to take.

Take the shuttle bus from your cruise ship to the stop at the back of Piazza Grande.

At Piazza Grande, take the LAM BLU (former bus N°1) or LAM ROSSA (former bus N°2) to Livorno Centrale. The bus stops are located along adjacent Via Grande and no longer on the square itself. The ride between Piazza Grande and Livorno Centrale takes about 5 to 10 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. A single ticket costs €1,20 per person. Buses run frequent every 7 to 10 minutes.

TIP: Buy your bus ticket in advance at the Tourist Office, at ticket machines or at a Tabacchi kiosk. On the bus, you usually pay € 1 more.

To reach Campo dei Miracoli and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, you can either walk 2 kilometers (1,2 miles; 20 minutes), take a taxi (€9 - €12) or take the LAM ROSSA bus (€1,20) in front of Pisa Central train station (Pisa Statione Fs) and get out at Torre 1. The ride will take about 10 minutes.
