The distance to the city center and some of the landmarks is not that big. It is not advisable to walk around in the harbor because of the busy traffic.

Basilica 'San Saturnino'
Basilica 'San Saturnino'is a basilica dedicated to Saint Saturninus. It's an important Paleo-Christian monument in Sardinia. It was built in the 5th century and restored after the bombing during the Second World War.
Amphitheater from the Roman period. It was built in the 2nd century A.D. and now used as a backdrop for spectacles in the open air.
Botanical garden with more than 2,000 types of plants. It's located near the University of Cagliari and covers more than five acres.
Cittadella dei Musei
Cittadella dei Musei is an old military arsenal. It's one of the most important museums in the world for the Nuragica civilization.
Cruiseships dock not too far away from the center of Cagliari. There are a number of transportation options such as a shuttle bus or taxi. You can also walk to the port exit, but be aware of the traffic. Not far from the harbor you can catch a connecting bus if you wish to make an excursion to Nora or Poetto beach.
Cagliari has a beautiful historic center situated atop a hill. There are also several neighborhoods and districts, each with their own character. It is a pleasant city to spend a few hours to a day.
