Alberobello is situated on a plateau located about 70 km from Bari and it is famous for its trulli. These are limestone houses with a conical roof, often decorated with magical symbols.
Their history dates from the 16th century. No cement was used for the construction of these houses. Most trulli can be found in the Aia Piccola and Rione Monti districts. These monuments are so unique, they are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
