Ajaccio is a charming town with some broad boulevards, big squares, narrow streets and museums. The region has a mild climate due to its many orange and olive trees on the hills which give shelter from the cold wind.
Ajaccio can easily be explored on foot in a few hours. It is a pleasant city where you can taste both the rich history and the Mediterranean atmosphere. Unfortunately there are only very limited options by public transport to explore the countryside on your own.
