Excursions in Aix-En-Provence

Excursions in Aix-En-Provence during a Mediterranean cruise

from €575 per unit

In this country, the landscape is marked by the emergence of a limestone fortress known around the world through Paul Cezanne's paintings, the Sainte Victoire mountain. At its feet, the city of Aix is the former capital of Provence.

City of waters and city of art, Aix en Provence invites you to travel in time through its architecture like a stage set. After the visit of the historical city center and its typical Provencal market, you will continue on Cassis, an unspoil fishing village dominated by a 14th century castle and surrounded by white limestone cliffs and vineyards descinding directly into the sea. Pastel houses and colorful fishing wooden boats curve around the little port.
Take your time to do a little shopping or do the boat ride (not included) at the crystalline azur coves called Calanques and its smooth white cliffs.

Truffle Hunting Tour

from €60 per person

Go behind the scenes of the world's most secretive business. Take a tour of a Provençal truffle plantation, learn how truffles are cultivated and truffle dogs are trained, and go on a hunt for France's elusive "black gold" with professional hunters who know all the tricks of the trade.

You'll be regaled with stories of successes and sabotage, and learn to tell the difference between a real Provençal tuber melanosporum and its inferior Chinese and Italian counterparts. Tours are followed up with a sampling of truffles and a glass of Champagne. Then you’ll enjoy a tasting of local wine and olive oil, of course, followed by the special truffle menu, featuring a truffle burger stuffed with foie gras and bacon, served with french fries cooked in truffle oil and all the regional wine you care to drink. Plus a seasonal dessert!
