Walk from the cruise port to the city center of Istanbul

It's quite easy to walk from the cruise port to Sultanahmet in 20-30 minutes. In this district you will find the main highlights such as the bazaars, mosques and palaces. A hike gives you the chance to taste the real Turkish life.

When you leave the cruise terminal you enter an area with a big parking lot and iron gates. Once you have left that you are in Kemeralti C. or Maklisi Mebusan C., depending on where exactly you docked. There's a tram running through this streets. Follow it's track to the left. Soon you'll arrive at the Galata Bridge, where you can see the local fishermen day and night. Once you have crossed the bridge take the small pedestrian tunnel. You are now near the Egyptian Spice Bazaar. Most highlights are within walking distance from here.

Taxi

Taxi from the cruise port to the city center of Istanbul

Just outside the cruise terminal you can take a taxi to the center of town. A ride to Sultanahmet takes between 10 and 20 minutes and costs about TL20 per taxi (4 persons one way). It's also possible to book a city tour of several hours. Make sure to negotiate and agree on the price before you leave or book a tour with one of our partners.

Tram

Tram from the cruise port to the city center of Istanbul

There runs a tram through Kemeralti C. and Meklisi Mebusan C., the main streets parallel along the cruise port. There is only 1 tram line in Istanbul, so you can't miss. Depending on where exactly you dock you can board the tram at the Findilkli, Tophane or Karakov tram stop. Take the tram in the direction of Bagolar.

Per trip, you need to buy a token at one of the machines near the tram stop. A token costs TL2 per person. The tram takes you across the Galata Bridge to Eminou (Egyptian Spice Bazaar), Sirkeci (train station) Gulhane (Topkapi Palace), Sultanahmet (Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia) and Beyazit (Grand Bazaar).

TIP: If you want to go shopping on the famous Taksim Square and Istiklal C., take the tram in the direction of Kabatas (terminal station). From there take the underground funicular for TL2 per person. It will bring you in 5 minutes to Taksim Square. This way you avoid a steep and difficult walk.

Shuttle bus

Most cruise lines offer a shuttle bus (whether or not complimentary) from the cruise port to the Sultanahmet district. This may be a good option if you don't like to walk or use public transport.
