A fantastic guided tour partly by bus and by foot through the centuries  to admire the highlights and the classical masterpieces of art  and architecture in Rome that will give you the chance to learn the arts and facts of this unique eternal city, Rome.

Departure from Civitavecchia at 9:30am (all seats are prebooked). Your will be escorted to Rome by bus with a coach assistant to the start of the tour where your professional and licensed guide is waiting for you.

Our guide will take you around to discover the untold traditions and art of the most important monumets while making you visit unforgettable.

Once borded the coach, you will have a ride to the centre of Rome. The coach will leave you just a stone away from the Palazzaccio (Justice Palace) in Piazza dei Tribunali. A beauty of building designed by the Italian Architect Calderini in 1889. Then your guide will take you to St. Angel Castle to look at the grand fortress ever built in Rome in honor of  Hadrian Emperor that once supposed to be used as his tomb.

Carry on walking along the Via Conciliazione where you will appreciate the perfect perspective view of St. Peter's Basilica and its magnificent square surrounded by the famous colonnades designed by Bernini in 1656. 

***please be advice that, in case of long line at St. Peter's Basilica, the guide will explain the Basilica from outside. If you wish to visit the Basilica from inside with "Skip the Line", please refer to the "NOT INCLUDED" section.***

Crossing the River Tiber we will be reaching Venice Square, the geographical centre of Rome, with its majestic monument to the 1st King of Italy and the Imperial Forums (in the Trajan private one a column with the description of the two wars won in Romania). Before reaching other monuments of Rome, we will pass beside the most famous Capitole Hill designed by the master of all masters, Michelangelo. Not to leave behind, the fabulous Santa Maria di Aracoeli Basilica. Along the ride you will have a fantastic opportunity to look at the Marcello Theatre commissioned by Augustus the Emperor but, the most unique feature is that, on top of this ancient building, you will be able to see one of the residency of the Pamphjli Family, one of the powerful and important family of Rome that aimed and reached the papacy.

Driving along you will be explained the Boario Forum where the Temple of Portuno and Temple of Hercules. Two of the finest smallest Temples situated in the centre of Rome. Your guide also will point you out where to look for the Basilica of St. Mary in Cosmedin with its huge bell tower and the Mouth of Truth where the legend says that, if you have you hand inside of it and you are telling a lie, the mouth will bite your fingers off.

Leaving behind the Mouth of the Truth monument, is the Maximum Circus, the biggest stadium ever built in the ancient Rome that held the race of the Chariots and, could hold up to 250 thousands of guests at one times. 70/74 a.D. and opened by Vespasiano Emperor. A semi circular stadium that hold up to c. 30 thousand spectators. The inauguration was held for 100 days long where all Romans could come and see the Gladiators fights vs gladiators or lions.

At this point, you have terminated the Ancient Rome side of this unique tours.Getting on the coach with your guide, we will heading to the Baroque side of the city where you will truly appreciate the 16th, 17th, 18th centuries that made Rome modern for its time. Starting with the fabulous Trevi Fountain designed originally by Bernini but, the works were never carried out due to the death of Pope Urban VIII. The precious Architect Nicola Salvi started the works of this unique fountain that made Rome evn more famous to the world. And of course the must see - the Colisseum.

Stop for lunch. Your will have approx. 30/40 minutes to have lunch or even just an ice-cream in the local delicatessen.

Walking to the Pantheon, the greatest pagan temple made 2000 years ago and still standing today. The imposing dome with its opening at the top will blow your mind and feast your eyes for the perfect harmony that the building communicate with you. Finish off with what once was called the Stadium od Domitian, Piazza Navona where the greatest architects of 17th century Bernini and Borromini, always in competition, reached their highest perfection with the Church of St. Agnes in Agone designed and built by Borromini and the masterpiece of Bernini, the Four River Fountain.

  • MEETING POINT: PLEASE TAKE ONE OF THE FREE SHUTTLE SERVICE FROM YOUR CRUISE SHIP TO THE MEETING POINT (AT THE END OF THE SHUTTLE SERVICE RIDE). THE JOURNEY WILL TAKE ABOUT 5 MINUTES FROM THE CRUISE SHIP TO THE MEETING POINT. YOUR COACH IS SITUATED IN LARGO DELLA PACE, CIVITAVECCHIA JUST OPPOSITE OF THE FIRE BRIGADES STATION (VIGILI DEL FUOCO) WHERE THE CAR PARK IS LOCATED. YOUR ASSISTANTS WILL BE THERE WAITING FOR YOU. Important remarks

  • It is IMPORTANT that, you wear headsets to be able to hear your guide during the time you are walking through the monuments of Rome. Those can be purchased before boarding the coach or while on the coach. The rate for the headsets are only €2.50 per person (adults, students and children). The headsets must be return once terminated the service to your guide/coach assistant.
  • It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT that, if you wish to enter the Basilica, you must have knees, shoulders, midriff and cleavage covered as the Vatican can refuse your entrance. In special events inside St. Peter's Basilica, guided tours are not allowed to enter.
