Villefranche-sur-Mer is a small fishing village on the French Riviera, close to Nice. Given the small size, it is hard to believe that this is a place for large cruise ships. They anchor in the bay and you will be brought ashore by tender boat.
Because of its convenient and central location on the Côte d'Azur, it makes Villefranche a popular cruise destination. It is a picturesque town with only a handful of sights. When the first crowds at the tender boat station are gone, you can relax at one of the cafes along the waterfront.
The town is so small it is easily explored in 1 to 2 hours. Another possibility is to make an excursion to Nice, Cannes or Monaco and visit Villefranche on your way back.
