Introduction

Monte-Carlo is the main city of the Principality of Monaco. With an area of ‚Äč‚Äčless than 2 square kilometers and 30,000 inhabitants, it is the most densely populated country in the world. Monaco is known as a tax haven for the rich and famous. This mini state attracts the beau monde from all over the world who enjoy the casinos or who love to attend the annual Formula 1 Grand Prix, which is held in the streets of Monaco. During this event, the most prestigious yachts can be spotted in the harbor. The main source of income is tourism and banking.

The Grimaldi dynasty has been on the throne for over 700 years. Needless to say that their whereabouts is an important topic in the tabloids. One of the most famous residents was the actress Grace Kelly, who married Prince Rainier III of Monaco. She passed away at a young age after a tragic car accident.

Practical

Monte-Carlo is easy to visit, but the points of interest are scattered around the city. There are many steep streets and stairs.  To explore Monte-Carlo, at least half a day is needed.
